Teaching Artist Info
Shannon Andersen
Growing up in Austin, Texas, Shannon gained early exposure to many artistic mediums through her participation in an experimental arts education program in elementary school. She attributes her identification as an artist to the program’s teachers and student collaborators.
Over the past 20 years, Shannon has led art-making workshops and classes for a diverse range of organizations. Inspired by the unique, innovative and resourceful qualities found in many styles of folk-art, Shannon combines a variety of mediums and unconventional materials to create art. Currently, Shannon works with her husband in their Georgetown studio creating sculptures and architectural ceramic tile. As an artist team, they have created a number of temporary and permanent public art installations, both regionally and nationally.
