Prof. Development
Education for educators.
Arts Corps' award-winning arts programming is supported by regular professional development for teaching artists and trainings for in-school teachers.
Professional Development for Teaching Artists
Taught by the Corps' master-level teaching artists and curriculum experts, our workshops examine a range of pertinent topics including curriculum development, teaching creative habits of mind, evaluation, classroom management, student-centered assessment, experiential learning activities, and courageous conversations on race and oppression through the framework of creativity.
Trainings for In-School Teachers
Arts Corps offers trainings for in-school teachers to cultivate new, creative ways of thinking about curricula and classroom practice, helping teachers tap into their own creativity to deepen student learning. Beginning with the teachers' strengths, Arts Corps invites educators to explore arts-rich experiences and challenges to discover new dimensions for learning and collaboration.
Training sessions are customized to meet the needs of educators working in their own unique environments and may include either workshops for groups of educators or one-on-one teaching artist consultation sessions for individual educators seeking creative inspiration and collaborative brainstorming on lessons, activities and projects.
All professional development workshops offer experiential sessions, ensuring that educators have hands-on experience with projects and strategies. Workshops introduce multiple ways to integrate creativity into lesson plans and may be designed around current standard curriculum or class themes to ensure that tools are immediately relevant. In addition, workshops may be scheduled to coordinate with school calendars to take advantage of already scheduled professional development days. Clock hours can also be arranged for workshop participants.
